Alligators are large semi aquatic reptiles, they can be scary in real life but this fellow is a nice cartoon alligator so please don’t worry-he won’t bite. This is a how to draw an Alligator lettertoon drawing guide. We start with a letter A and turn it into an alligator in ten steps.
How to Draw an Alligator Step by Step
Draw a rounded letter A.
Add a thinner letter A next to the first one.
Add two circles to each letter A, add a black circle to the inside of each circle-these are the alligator eyes.
Add a rounded line underneath the eyes, this is the top of the alligator’s snout.
Add another curved line underneath the eyes on the other side.
Close both lines in order to complete the snout as shown in the example.
Next you will add a line to for the alligator’s smile.
Next add a black circle to the snout, this is the alligator’s nose hole.
Our last step is to add teeth all along the bottom of the mouth and then you can color the drawing.
Here is Artie the alligator in living color, notice that I have left white highlights in the blue of his eyes-this makes for a very nice effect that I highly recommend. If you enjoyed this tutorial please visit the How to Draw LetterToons Animal Series that showcases all of the alphabet letters.
